Airborne Systems Group, which has combined the world’s leading parachute brands specializing in troop parachutes, deceleration and recovery systems, announced today that its California division received AS9100 certification.
AS 9100 is an international standard containing requirements for establishing and maintaining a Quality Management System (QMS) for the aerospace industry. The QMS is to assure high levels of customer satisfaction that aerospace industry organizations need to produce and improve safe and reliable products that meet or exceed the customer requirement. The AS 9100 standard focuses on the “upstream” process and requires documentation for controlling the development and production of aerospace products.
AS9100 is a widely adopted in the aerospace industry as a standardized quality management system. Instituted in October 1999 by the Society of Automotive Engineers and the European Association of Aerospace Industries in Europe, AS9100 was adapted shortly thereafter in Japan and Asia through a cooperative effort of the International Aerospace Quality Group. The AS9100 standard replaces an earlier standard of AS9000 fully incorporating the entire current version of ISO 9000 while adding additional requirements relating to quality and safety. All major aerospace manufacturers and suppliers worldwide require compliance and/or registration to AS9100 as a condition of doing business with them.
